At Ease: Photographs by Military Veterans in New York, 2018–2022

  • Morris-Jumel Mansion 65 Jumel Terrace New York, NY, 10032 United States (map)

At Ease: Photographs by Military Veterans in New York presents the work of 23 veterans who participated in workshops with the Josephine Herrick Project from 2018 through 2022. For the pho- tographers, the camera became a way of finding new avenues of self-expression and to relate to the world around them. Filtered through their experiences and seen through their lenses, New York—even at its most frenetic—becomes a place of peace. Images of home, of parks, of the streets, of loved ones, mix memory and metaphor. Present and past. For tickets, information, and exhibition events, visit www.morrisjumel.org/current-exhibition.

At Ease: Photographs by Military Veterans in New York is organized by the Josephine Herrick Project in collaboration with Morris-Jumel Mansion Museum. This exhibition was made possible in part with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, and the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development in partnership with the City Council. Major private support came from the Phillip and Edith Leonian Foundation.
